Anyksciai – the land of ‘thumbs’

Anyksciai – a cozy town in the center of Lithuania. The beautiful green surroundings have inspired many artists, still being referred to as the heartland of poets (home to famous poem about Anyksciai Forest). To see the magnificent forests poets and artists describe, a new ‘tree-top’ path was built. As one of the tour highlights, the Tree Path in Anyksciai is a recently built modern construction, that allows you to walk between the trees hundreds of feet in the air and being awestruck by the views.

Another stop on this tour is a unique narrow railroad, built in the 19th century, which will astound any locomotive fans. We will visit the railroad and visit an interactive narrow rail train museum located nearby. Also we will try a locomotive tricycle – called “drezina”.

But wait.. There’s more. This tour also includes a trip to the Horse Museum. Lithuanians love these friendly animals.. And unsurprisingly have even 20 terms to describe horses’ appearance. At this stop, we will get a chance to partake in some fun workshops – like bread and candle making and see how horseshoes and wheels are made.
